• The Church of the Holy Sepulcher. This is the site at which most Christians believe Jesus was crucified, buried, and arose from three days later. The last 5 Stations of the Cross are within the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
• Western Wall, also called “The Wailing Wall” (Ha’Kotel Ha’Ma’aravi in Hebrew) is the holiest place for all Jews. The Western Wall is all that remains after the destruction of the Second Temple, and it is said that if you write a prayer on paper and place it between the stones of the wall, God will hear your prayer.
• The Al-Aqsa Mosque is one of Islam’s holiest places. It is said that Muhammad was taken on a winged horse to learn to teachings of Islam from God, and then delivered to Mecca that same night.
• Yad Vashem is the Holocaust Memorial Museum, built to remember all of those who were killed during the Holocaust in World War II.
• The Mount of Olives Observation Point overlooks the Jewish Cemetery, the Dome of the Rock, the Gates of Mercy, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Also, while you’re up there, you’re likely to have the opportunity to ride a camel.

Of course, Jerusalem has important historical, yet secular, sites as well. The Old City offers countless views of archaeology that makes you feel like you’re stepping back in time. All throughout the Old City, you can walk through the tunnels that connect the different quarters and shop in the open markets there. The Israel Museum contains fantastic works of art from both ancient and modern times. There are modern shopping districts as well, the most popular being on Ben Yehuda Street.
