Some of Israel’s most popular tourist attractions are difficult to reach without
a car. Although there are trains and buses to get you there,
why be at the mercy of their schedules when you can travel in a rental car from
Avis?
The Dead Sea
About 400 meters (1,312 feet) below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest
location on the surface of the earth. It is fed by the Jordan
River. The Dead Sea earned its name because of its salt
content, which is so high that sea life is unable to survive in it.
That same salt level also creates an amazing buoyancy, and a person can
float on the surface as if they have a pool float underneath them.
The minerals in the mud surrounding the Dead Sea are known to have
cleansing and healing properties, and products including them are sold all over
the world. While you are there, give yourself a mud bath and
let yourself float on the sea, giving yourself a spa treatment that would cost a
lot of money anywhere else.
The Sea of Galilee
Also called the ‘Kineret’, the Sea of Galilee is known as the place where Jesus
walked on water. The water is known to be sweet, and is one
of Israel’s main sources of drinking water. Because the
Galilee is beautiful, hotels and spas have sprung up all around the sea.
This is considered one of the most romantic places in Israel.
The Church of the Annunciation and Nazareth
Located in Nazareth, the Church of the Annunciation is a very holy location for
Catholicism, as it known as the home of the Virgin Mary. It
is said that, in that place, the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and announced
that she would bear a son and name him Jesus. Nazareth itself
is the city where Jesus is said to have been raised, living there until he
reached adulthood. At that time, it was a tiny village, but
has grown to be a city of over 70,000. It is a place of
pilgrimage for many Christians, although Muslims make up 2/3 of the city’s
population.
Israel Car Rentals makes all of Israel’s popular sites accessible to you.
